RM of Walpole’s story
The Rural Municipality of Walpole No. 92 began on December 12, 1910, when it was first incorporated as the RM of Pipestone No. 92. Just two months later, on February 15, 1911, its name was changed to the RM of Walpole No. 92, the name it still carries.
Today the RM includes the hamlets of Kelso, Parkman and Walpole, along with the localities of Doonside, Mair and Riga. The Canadian Pacific Railway's Reston Section runs through the area, serving Walpole and nearby towns such as Wawota, Fairlight and Maryfield. Highways 48, 8 and 601 also cross the municipality. A council and an appointed administrator run local affairs, and the RM office is in Wawota.
